Requests University of Hawaii to examine feasibility and accessibility of developing and implementing a nursing program at Honolulu Community College

University of Hawaii must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2023 Regular Session convenes

Cites Hawaii's nursing shortage, vulnerable populations in the Kalihi area with significant health care needs, and the fact that Kapiolani Community College is currently the only community college-level nursing program in urban Honolulu

Notes that a nursing program at Honolulu Community College could provide educational opportunities closer to home for students, address nursing vacancies, and improve healthcare providers' understanding of vulnerable populations through community rotations

Requires certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the University of Hawaii System President, Vice President for Community Colleges, Honolulu Community College Chancellor, and Kalihi-Palama Neighborhood Board Chairperson
