Hawaii Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission is requested to convene a task force to address areas in Koolauloa vulnerable to sea level rise.

Task force composition includes one co-chairperson from the Commission, Director of Transportation, chairs of Senate and House transportation committees, Director of Office of Planning and Sustainable Development, one Koolauloa resident, and other members as deemed necessary.

Task force scope includes identifying vulnerable areas in Koolauloa, exploring mitigation options such as shoreline hardening and retreat/relocation, and holding community meetings for input on solutions.

Task force must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2023.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources, Director of Transportation, and Director of the Office of Planning and Sustainable Development.
