Establishes a permanent autonomous transportation task force within the Department of Transportation to prepare Hawaii for adoption and use of autonomous vehicles.

Task force shall examine implications of transitioning to autonomous vehicles, assess impacts on public infrastructure, and make recommendations on legal and insurance coverage issues.

Task force composition includes the Transportation Director (chair), Attorney General, legislative committee chairs, all four county mayors, Insurance Commissioner, and representatives from environmental and powersports industries.

Task force must submit reports to the Governor and Legislature no later than 20 days before each regular legislative session beginning in 2022, including analysis of autonomous vehicle growth, infrastructure needs, and recommendations for lawmakers and policymakers.

Act takes effect upon approval.
