Hawaii health systems corporation hospitals in counties with an area greater than 4,000 square miles that serve Compact of Free Association (COFA) benefit recipients must establish and implement diversity and inclusion training for all staff.

These hospitals must hire interpreters and community health care workers as needed to effectively communicate with and provide culturally sensitive services to COFA benefit recipients.

The Hawaii health systems corporation shall provide oversight and enforcement of the diversity and inclusion training programs and hiring requirements.

The Hawaii health systems corporation must submit a report to the legislature no later than 20 days before the start of the 2022 regular legislative session on implementation of these requirements.

The Act takes effect on July 1, 2060.
