S.B. 2065 Summary

• Prohibits possession or use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on, in, or near state marine waters for the purpose of taking aquatic life without a permit from the Department of Land and Natural Resources

• Allows UAVs to be used for simple reconnaissance purposes without a permit

• Defines "unmanned aerial vehicle" as any aerial vehicle operated without the possibility of direct human intervention within or on the vehicle

• Department of Land and Natural Resources may issue permits for UAV possession or use consistent with other legal requirements

• Takes effect upon approval; does not affect rights, duties, penalties, or proceedings that existed before the effective date
