Requires redaction of all financial amounts reported by non-paid volunteer members of specified state boards and commissions in their public financial disclosure statements.

Applies to members of 16 listed boards and commissions including the Board of Regents, Board of Education, State Ethics Commission, Public Utilities Commission, and Land Use Commission.

Maintains full public disclosure requirements for paid officials such as the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, legislators, state department directors, and University of Hawaii executives.

Legislature finds that public disclosure requirements have reduced the pool of qualified candidates willing to serve on state boards and commissions due to privacy concerns about personal compensation.

Effective January 1, 2023.
