HI SB2181

Amends the definition of "private school" under Hawaii's compulsory attendance law (Section 302A-1132) to create three categories: licensed schools, licensed and accredited schools, or accredited schools that submit annual health and safety documentation.

Requires unlicensed but accredited private schools to annually submit health and safety documentation to the Hawaii Council of Private Schools or to Catholic Schools Hawaii (for unlicensed accredited Catholic schools not fully members of the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools).

Specifies that recognized accrediting entities include the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools, Hawaii Council of Private Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Western Catholic Educational Association, Association of Christian Schools International, or similar entities recognized by the Hawaii Council of Private Schools.

Takes effect upon approval.
