Department of Health must amend administrative rules to reclassify direct support workers in the Developmental Disabilities Division as non-licensed, non-facility based workers rather than health care or residential facility-based workers for tuberculosis screening purposes.

Direct support workers in the Developmental Disabilities Division shall not be subject to tuberculosis screening requirements exceeding those required for childcare workers, foster care workers, or school personnel under Hawaii Administrative Rules Section 11-164.2-20.

Tuberculosis screenings for direct support workers may be completed through symptom screening conducted by the Department's tuberculosis control branch or the worker's own health care provider via phone, electronic mail, or in person.

Effective date: January 1, 2050.
