S.B. 2683 Summary

• Adds the director of business, economic development, and tourism as a voting member of the Hawaii Community Development Authority.

• Adds the director of planning and permitting of each county where a community development district is located as a voting member, removing their previous ex officio nonvoting status.

• Reduces the number of representatives for each community development district (Heeia, Kalaeloa, and Kakaako) from three members to two members.

• Transfers nomination authority for district representatives from county councils to the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House of Representatives, with each submitting three nominees per district for the governor to appoint.

• Takes effect upon approval, allowing existing district representatives to continue serving until their terms expire.
