Establishes one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) permanent position of Summer Learning Coordinator within the Department of Education to coordinate all school-based summer programs including public summer school, e-school summer program, Credit Recovery summer program, and alternative learning summer programs.

Appropriates $125,000 from general revenues for fiscal year 2022-2023 to fund the Summer Learning Coordinator position.

Coordinator role aims to reduce redundant efforts, promote equitable service provision, and identify gaps in summer learning opportunities by coordinating with other governmental agencies and community organizations.

Addresses learning loss from COVID-19 pandemic, noting that more than 60 percent of elementary and middle school students are one or two grade levels behind as of school year 2021-2022.

Takes effect July 1, 2022.
