Amends Section 27-8, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to update reporting requirements for state departments on locally sourced product purchases, requiring reports to the legislature no later than 20 days before each regular session.

Requires state departments to report total food costs, total produce purchased as a percentage of food cost, and fresh local agricultural products purchased as a percentage of food cost during the preceding calendar year.

Amends Section 302A-405.6 to similarly update Department of Education reporting requirements for the farm to school program, including reporting on progress toward meeting the 30 percent locally sourced food goal by 2030.

Requires departments to explain in their reports if they failed to meet relevant benchmarks for locally sourced product procurement established under Acts 175 and 176 (Session Laws of Hawaii 2021).

Effective January 1, 2023.
