Allows individual department schools and career pathways, academies, or programs to engage in commercial enterprises related to their educational purposes, including the sale of goods produced by the school.

Deems student interns engaging in commercial enterprises to be considered "employees of the State" for purposes of chapter 662 (workers' compensation).

Permits the Department of Education to accrue revenues and make expenditures for commercial enterprise operations without regard to chapters 76, 78, 89, 103, and 103D (relating to public employment, taxation, collective bargaining, procurement, and government contracts).

Allows net profits generated from commercial enterprises to be used by the Department of Education in accordance with education law.

Takes effect on July 1, 2022.
