• Empowers the state comptroller to mandate the transfer of non-permanent governmental records to the state records center and specify the time period for such transfers.

• Allows the comptroller to direct records to be retained by agencies, transferred to the state archives or state records center, or destroyed at the expiration of their retention period.

• Appropriates $303,000 for fiscal year 2022-2023 to cover costs of transferring non-permanent government records to the state records center.

• Allocates $118,000 of the appropriation to fund two full-time equivalent positions within the state archives: one position to assist agencies in identifying and transferring records and one position to assist in digitizing government records.

• Takes effect on July 1, 2022.
