S.B. 756 - Electric Vehicles Summary

• Requires public accommodations with 100+ parking spaces to provide at least 5 electric vehicle charging spaces per 100 stalls by January 1, 2025 (increased from 1 space requirement by July 1, 2012).

• Mandates all new electric vehicle charging systems installed after January 1, 2022 must be at least Level 2 charging stations that are network capable.

• Authorizes counties to adopt ordinances enforcing electric vehicle parking requirements and allows law enforcement and volunteer enforcement officers to access private property to enforce violations.

• Establishes an electric vehicle charging system subaccount within the public utilities commission special fund and reallocates 3 cents per barrel of the petroleum tax to fund an electric vehicle charging system rebate program.

• Effective date July 1, 2050.
