S.B. 933 Summary

• Establishes four-year terms for Information Technology Steering Committee (ITSC) members, subject to Senate advice and consent, to preserve institutional knowledge of the State's complex information systems.

• Reduces appointments by the Senate President and Speaker of the House from four members each to three members each, while adding one appointment each from the Superintendent of Education and President of the University of Hawaii (total committee size remains 11 members).

• Requires the Chief Information Officer to present the Office of Enterprise Technology Services annual report to the ITSC for public comment at a regularly scheduled committee meeting before submitting it to the Governor and Legislature.

• Removes the requirement that committee members be subject to holdover provisions in Hawaii Revised Statutes section 26-34.

• Takes effect upon approval; requires the Senate President and Speaker to each remove one existing appointee to accommodate the new committee composition.
