Requests the State Librarian and Board of Education to dedicate a section within the Kailua Public Library in honor of former State Representative Cynthia Thielen

Cynthia Thielen represented House District 50 (Kailua and Kaneohe Bay) for three consecutive decades from 1990 until her retirement in 2020, serving as Minority Floor Leader from 1992 to 1997

Thielen founded the Birthday Book Club at the library, established a public-private partnership with the State of Hawaii in 1999 that secured matching funds from the Harold K.L. Castle Foundation for library renovations, and was one of the first lifetime members of the Friends of Kailua Library

Board of Education Policy 600-4 allows for naming a room or section within a library facility for any person for meritorious reasons, with approval from the State Librarian and Board of Education

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the State Librarian, Board of Education Chairperson, Kailua Public Library Branch Manager, and Friends of Kailua Library Executive Board Chair
