Requests establishment of a task force to examine the feasibility of renaming streets named after individuals with problematic histories.

Task force should use specific criteria to evaluate street names: whether the individual owned slaves, had a documented history of gender or racialized violence, engaged in efforts to circumvent democratic rights, attempted to overthrow a legitimate government, or actively suppressed Hawaiian language and culture.

Task force should compile a list of potential streets meeting the criteria and prepare a feasibility report for renaming each street.

Task force must submit preliminary findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than 40 days prior to the convening of the 2023 Regular Session.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Governor, state and county officials including the Directors of Transportation and Accounting and General Services, and the State Historic Preservation Division Administrator.
