Requests convening of a task force to determine how the Department of Transportation can lower transportation costs in Hawaii.

Task force shall evaluate modern best practices from other jurisdictions, relevant studies, current Department of Transportation priorities, and provide findings and recommendations.

Task force membership includes one Senate member (co-chair), one House member (co-chair), Director of Transportation, Director of State Energy Office, Superintendent of Education, Director of Health, Chief Energy Officer, and representatives from eight specified organizations plus one expert on transportation costs in other jurisdictions.

Initial report due to Legislature by December 1, 2022, and final report due by December 1, 2023.

Task force members serve without compensation; co-chairs may invite additional interested parties to participate.
