Request that the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources work with the Secretary of the Army to convey Dillingham Airfield (Kawaihapai Airfield) to the State of Hawaii.

Kawaihapai Airfield is a general aviation airfield on 278 acres of the 650-acre Dillingham Military Reservation, owned by the U.S. Army and managed by the state Department of Transportation since 1962.

The airfield generates over $12,000,000 in annual revenue through recreational skydiving, glider operations, flight instruction, and other general aviation businesses, and is the most heavily used drop zone in the United States.

The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1991 authorized the Secretary of the Army to convey 87 acres of airfield and adjacent shoreline (Army Beach) to Hawaii, a transfer that remains pending.
