Department of Human Services is requested to develop LGBTQ+ specific training guidelines for state agencies that serve and assist survivors of intimate partner violence.

Department of Human Services is requested to obtain input from relevant advocates and professionals when developing the training guidelines.

State agencies that serve and assist intimate partner violence survivors are requested to receive and implement the training guidelines to better address the needs of LGBTQ+ survivors.

Recognizes that LGBTQ+ individuals experience intimate partner violence at higher rates than heterosexual individuals but are less likely to report it due to barriers and insensitivity from shelters, first responders, and health care providers.

Certified copies are to be transmitted to the Director of Human Services, Director of Health, Attorney General, Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice, and the four county police department chiefs.
