Hawaii Senate and House endorse and adopt the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, adopted by 122 nations in July 2017

Urges federal leaders to make nuclear disarmament the centerpiece of U.S. national security policy and embrace the treaty

Calls on federal leaders to renounce first-use of nuclear weapons, end the President's sole authority to launch nuclear attacks, remove weapons from hair-trigger alert, and cancel plans to replace the entire nuclear arsenal

Notes that approximately 14,500 nuclear weapons still exist globally, with over 90 percent held by the United States and Russia, posing unacceptable risk to human survival

Requires certified copies be sent to the UN Secretary-General, U.S. President, Congress leadership, Hawaii's congressional delegation, Governor, and all county Mayors
