Act 49, Session Laws of Hawaii 2017 allocated $1,500,000 in general obligation bonds for plans, design, and construction of the Kau water system on Hawaiian home lands.

Phase one includes design and construction of a 100,000-gallon water storage tank and appurtenances, with the Hawaiian Homes Commission approving $500,000 in trust funds for construction.

Phase two is expected to include repair and replacement of pressure reducing valve stations; phase three will include relocation of waterlines, installation of new water meters, fire protection improvements, and subdivision of 25 pastoral lots.

The Department of Hawaiian Home Lands, in conjunction with the County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply, is requested to submit a progress report on the Kau water system development to the Legislature by June 30, 2022.

Certified copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the Governor, Chairperson of the Hawaiian Homes Commission, and Manager of the County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply.
