Request that the Department of Education enforce Hawaii's state prohibition on excessive vehicle idling at school facilities.

Direct the Department of Education to develop safe pick-up and drop-off procedures that protect children from exposure to vehicle exhaust fumes.

Acknowledge that idling vehicles emit harmful chemicals, gases, and particle pollution that contribute to ozone damage, regional haze, and climate change.

Note that children are particularly vulnerable to air pollution because their lungs are still developing, they breathe faster than adults, and their height places them closer to vehicle tailpipes.

Require certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Superintendent of Education and Chairperson of the Board of Education.
