Department of Education must conduct a comparison study for school year 2021-2022 comparing average per-classroom supply expenses in counties with populations under 200,000 versus counties with populations over 200,000.

Department of Education must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2023 Regular Session convenes.

Department of Education is requested to reimburse teachers in counties with populations under 200,000 for reasonable and necessary personal expenditures on essential and additional classroom supplies.

Resolution addresses the disparity in classroom supply costs and access to discount retailers for teachers in smaller counties, which disproportionately impacts both students and educators in those areas.

A certified copy of the resolution must be transmitted to the Superintendent of Education.
