Requests Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) to create a plan for Kau Hospital to incorporate modern computed tomography (CT) equipment by July 1, 2024.

Plan must include a list of appropriate tomography equipment to be purchased and installed, estimated total cost of purchase and installation, and estimated timetable for completion.

HHSC must submit the plan report to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the 2023 Regular Session convening.

Kau Hospital, built in 1971, is the only hospital in the Kau District on Hawaii Island's southern part and holds critical access hospital status as a rural facility.

Kau District is designated as a medically underserved area, and Kau Hospital is the only facility in the district providing x-ray services.
