Requests the Department of Health and County of Hawaii to conduct a feasibility study for implementing an ambulance service in the town of Makalei in north Kona.

Study should include recommendations for the most efficient method to provide ambulance service to Makalei, including costs for advanced life support ambulance equipment and state-certified emergency medical services personnel.

North Kona is identified as one of Hawaii's fastest-growing regions with increased emergency medical services calls, while Makalei residents currently face a 30-mile drive to reach primary care facilities.

Feasibility study must be submitted to the Governor and Legislature no later than 20 days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2023.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Director of Health and Mayor of the County of Hawaii.
