Urges the Department of Land and Natural Resources to develop programs to recapture, retain, and share cultural and environmental knowledge of limu kala (a type of edible seaweed).

Recognizes four endemic Hawaiian species of limu kala: S. echniocarpum, S. hawaiiensis, S. obtusifolium, and S. polyphyllum.

Notes limu kala's importance as a vitamin-, mineral-, and fiber-rich food source; traditional medicine for cuts and scratches; and use in cultural ceremonies including hooponopono conflict resolution and ocean voyager protection.

Identifies steep decline in limu populations statewide and correlating decline in nearshore fish populations, with much cultural knowledge about limu lost over generations.

Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Governor and Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources.
