SR 27 Summary

• State Procurement Office requested to convene a working group to develop legislation allowing state departments and agencies to refurbish electronic devices for reuse.

• Working group shall include 10 member categories: State Procurement Office Administrator (chair), State Comptroller, Attorney General representative, Department of Education representative, Office of Enterprise Technology Services representative, refurbishing industry representative, recycling industry representative, electronics industry representative, environmental nonprofit representative, and state legislators from each county.

• Chair authorized to invite additional parties to participate in the working group as necessary.

• Working group required to submit findings, recommendations, and proposed legislation to the Legislature prior to the 2023 Regular Session.

• Certified copies of resolution to be transmitted to the State Procurement Office Administrator, State Comptroller, Attorney General, Superintendent of Education, and Chief Information Officer of the Office of Enterprise Technology Services.
