S.R. 59 Summary

• Department of Labor and Industrial Relations shall collect data on IT workforce development in Hawaii, including courses, trainings, programs, internship programs, and certifications/licenses issued.

• Department must gather current information on individuals who completed IT training or obtained certifications, including their occupation, industry, and current state or country of residence.

• Department shall evaluate collected data and develop a strategy to improve IT training and retain trained workers in Hawaii to build a robust IT workforce.

• Department must submit a report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2023 Regular Session convenes.
