Hawaii State Energy Office is requested to engage the U.S. Department of Energy to establish a permanent presence within the State of Hawaii.

Governor, Director of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, and state departments with energy-related duties are requested to support the Chief Energy Officer in this engagement effort.

Hawaii State Energy Office must submit a report to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2023 Regular Session convening on the status of engagement and terms of any proposed agreement.

Resolution acknowledges Hawaii's leadership on clean energy, including the first 100% renewable portfolio standard by 2045, and alignment with the Biden-Harris Administration's clean energy and Justice40 Initiative goals.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the U.S. Secretary of Energy, Hawaii's congressional delegation, Governor, Chief Energy Officer, and Director of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism.
