Request that the State Fire Council establish an educational awareness campaign on preventing clothes dryer fires in homes

Request that the State Fire Council work with home insurance companies, property management companies, cooperative housing corporations, homeowners associations, planned community associations, and condominium associations to implement preventative measures

Cite that between 2010-2014, U.S. fire departments responded to an average of 15,970 home structure fires annually involving clothes dryers or washing machines, with 13 civilian deaths, 444 injuries, and $238,000,000 in property damage per year

Note that 92 percent of these fires involved clothes dryers and cite specific incidents in Hawaii in 2017, 2019, and 2021 that caused evacuations, injuries, and property damage

Require transmission of a certified copy of the resolution to the Chairperson of the State Fire Council
