HI HB1201

Adds a new section to Chapter 342F, Hawaii Revised Statutes establishing a private right of action for persons aggrieved by violations of the Federal Aviation Act and existing federal laws related to helicopters.

Allows individuals to sue helicopter owners or operators in district court to enjoin further violations and recover three times actual damages or $1,000 per violation, whichever is greater.

Entitles plaintiffs to recover costs of suit, including reasonable attorney's fees.

Exempts helicopters owned or operated by government agencies and those used for emergency services such as aeromedical services or search and rescue operations.

Takes effect on June 30, 2050.
