H.B. 1262 Summary

• Repeals the requirement for broadband service providers (except commercial mobile radio service providers) to submit census-block level informational reports to the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs.

• Eliminates definitions of "broadband access or broadband service," "broadband infrastructure," and "broadband speed threshold" from Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 440J-1.

• Removes the requirement for providers to report broadband availability aggregated at the census-block level as a percentage of households, addresses, or tax map key parcels, effective March 1, 2013.

• Removes the requirement for providers to report the monthly price charged for broadband service purchased individually without discounts.

• Maintains the requirement for commercial mobile radio service providers to file data and information consistent with Federal Communications Commission filings, aligning Hawaii law with the FCC's December 2022 decision to sunset the Form 477 filing system.
