H.B. 507 Summary

• Department of Human Services must print the beneficiary's name (or parent/guardian name if minor or incapacitated) on each electronic benefits transfer (EBT) card issued for supplemental nutrition assistance program benefits.

• Vendors are prohibited from allowing use of an EBT card unless the user presents photo identification displaying a name that matches the name printed on the card, to the extent allowable by federal law.

• Photo identification is defined as a government-issued identification card or document containing the person's name and photograph.

• Department shall adopt rules under chapter 91 to implement the requirements.

• Act takes effect upon approval.
