HB 710 Summary

• Amends section 710-1072.5 to expand the obstruction of justice offense to include intentionally influencing, obstructing, impeding, or attempting to influence, obstruct, or impede the due administration of justice by means of force, threat of force, coercion, fraud, or deception.

• Increases the penalty for obstruction of justice under the new subsection (1)(b) from a class C felony to a class B felony.

• Prohibits individuals charged with obstruction of justice under subsection (1)(b) from being eligible for deferred acceptance of guilty plea or nolo contendere plea under chapter 853.

• Adds obstruction of justice under section 710-1072.5(1)(b) to the list of offenses ineligible for deferred acceptance of guilty plea under section 853-4.

• Takes effect on March 22, 2075.
