H.C.R. NO. 106 Summary

• Request the Department of Facility Maintenance of the City and County of Honolulu to dredge and clean the Ulehawa Stream and Canal on a quarterly basis.

• Request the Department of Health to conduct water quality testing of the Ulehawa Stream and Canal quarterly, at minimum every two years.

• Urge the Army Corps of Engineers to work with DFM to create a permanent solution to prevent rapid sediment and debris accumulation, including potential design and construction of a stream groin at the mouth of the Ulehawa Stream, coordinated with the Department of Transportation's planned 2025 Ulehawa Stream Bridge rehabilitation.

• Request Hawaii's congressional delegation to prioritize finding a permanent solution for the Ulehawa Stream and Canal and assist in securing federal funding.

• Direct certified copies of the resolution be sent to the Army Corps of Engineers Honolulu District Commander, Hawaii's congressional delegation, state and county transportation and water supply officials.
