Request the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs to study potential solutions for Sunset Memorial Park in Pearl City, Oahu and develop a long-term management plan addressing legal and physical conditions.

Park has experienced years of neglect including damaged mausoleum, sinking graves, overgrown vegetation, and security issues including vandalism and homeless encampments.

Owning company involuntarily dissolved in 2006 and owner passed away in 2011, leaving property in legal limbo with maintenance dependent on volunteers since then.

Department must consult with Department of Accounting and General Services, Attorney General, Pearl City Neighborhood Board, Friends for Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, affected families, and other relevant entities.

Department must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the Regular Session of 2024.
