• Recognizes that 95 of 142 endemic Hawaiian bird species have become extinct, with only 17 of 50+ honeycreeper species remaining, and 12 of those designated as critically endangered or threatened

• Identifies major threats to honeycreepers including habitat loss, invasive species, avian malaria spread by mosquitoes, and climate change enabling mosquitoes to invade higher-elevation refuges

• Encourages people, organizations, and government entities to observe the celebration day with activities and ceremonies to strengthen support for native bird conservation efforts

• Directs certified copies be transmitted to the Governor, county mayors, federal agencies, state departments, and conservation organizations
