Department of Hawaiian Home Lands requested to conduct a study evaluating flood remediation and flood aversion methods for the areas of Kalamula, Kapaakea, Kamiloloa, and Makakupapia on Molokai.

Study addresses increased flooding dangers on Molokai affecting Hawaiian Homes Commission Act beneficiaries whose homes have been repeatedly impacted by runoff and mud following recent large storms.

Department may consult with appropriate governmental agencies, experts, and other relevant persons in conducting the study.

Department must submit a report of findings and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the 2024 Regular Session.

Certified copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Hawaiian Homes Commission and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
