Request the Governor to convene a task force to examine and make recommendations on state building code adoption procedures.

Task force should consider whether the current building code adoption process is effective, whether county codes should be eliminated for a single statewide code, and examine the financial impacts on construction and housing prices.

Task force composition includes the Governor (chairperson), State Comptroller, directors of county planning departments, one House member, one Senate member, and representatives from construction industry associations and labor unions.

Task force should review educational programs for stakeholders on building code changes and submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2025 Regular Session.

State requires an additional 50,156 homes by 2025 across all counties, with existing building code procedures identified as impeding the permit process and increasing construction costs.
