• Prohibits any person from carrying or possessing a firearm on school property, school buses, or at school-sponsored functions.

• Exempts law enforcement officers employed by federal, state, or county agencies and instructors/participants in board-approved educational or training programs that require firearms on school property.

• Establishes violation as a class B felony offense.

• Requires students enrolled in school found in violation to be excluded from school attendance for not less than one year.

• Applies to all public and private preschools, kindergarten through high schools, and special schools for children in Hawaii.
