Repeals Act 4, Special Session Laws of Hawaii 2021, which required the Department of Education to publish weekly reports on schools with confirmed COVID-19 cases among students, staff, or affiliated individuals.

Eliminates the weekly reporting requirement citing concerns about balancing public health transparency with individual privacy rights and protection from harassment and discrimination.

Notes that as of August 1, 2022, the Department no longer requires masking indoors and the prevalence of home testing has made accurate case reporting increasingly difficult.

Indicates the Department will continue enforcing mitigation strategies including hand washing hygiene, staying home when sick, and promoting vaccinations without the weekly public reporting requirement.

Takes effect upon approval.
