HI SB1505

Authorizes the Department of Transportation to delay or deny port entry or departure approval for vessels whose crews have engaged in activities violating federal, state, or county laws regarding environmental protection, maritime transportation, illegal contraband trafficking, or unpermitted undersea mineral extraction.

Permits the Department of Transportation to grant port approvals for such vessels only in coordination with the relevant federal agency or other agency that reported the violation.

Addresses concerns about increasing illegal activity in the Pacific Ocean, including foreign vessels trafficking contraband, illegally harvesting resources in protected areas, and scouting Hawaiian waters for undersea mining operations.

Takes effect on March 22, 2075.
