S.B. 1513 Summary

• Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 92-4 to require public agency boards to report any discussion or final action taken during executive (closed) meetings when the board reconvenes in open session.

• Information reported from executive meetings must not be inconsistent with the purpose for which the executive meeting was convened under Section 92-5, including matters affecting individual privacy.

• Grants boards discretion to maintain confidentiality of information from executive meetings for as long as disclosure would defeat the purpose of convening the executive meeting.

• Makes technical grammatical changes to clarify that executive meetings must be "closed to the public" and removes a comma from existing statute language.

• Takes effect July 1, 2023.
