S.B. 201 Summary

• Expands the existing ban on campaign contributions by state and county contractors to include grantees of the State under chapter 42F, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

• Prohibits state and county contractors and grantees from making direct or indirect contributions to candidate committees, noncandidate committees, or candidates for political purposes during the contract period from execution through completion.

• Extends the contribution prohibition to officers and immediate family members of state and county contractors and grantees, who are barred from making contributions to candidate or noncandidate committees during the contract period.

• Maintains the existing exception allowing other persons to establish or administer noncandidate committees for the purpose of influencing nominations and elections.

• Takes effect upon approval.
