Requires the Department of Education to assign school resource officers or guards registered under chapter 463 to all public elementary schools and state prekindergarten programs during hours when students are present on campus.

Department must determine the number of assigned officers or guards based on school campus size, number of students enrolled, and other safety-relevant factors.

Department shall seek federal grants to cover costs of hiring school resource officers and registered guards.

Appropriates unspecified general revenue funds for fiscal years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 to provide school resource officers and guards at public elementary schools and state prekindergarten programs.

Takes effect July 1, 2023.
