SB 481 Summary

• Requires parents or guardians of kindergarten students to disclose the name, address, and duration of attendance at early learning programs attended in the previous year to the Department of Education.

• Authorizes the Department of Education to collect additional information to help identify geographic regions with highest need for prekindergarten programs and child care services.

• Mandates the Department of Education to submit annual reports to the legislature no later than twenty days before the regular session beginning in 2024, containing early learning program attendance data by school.

• Repeals Section 302A-1165 establishing standardized kindergarten entry assessments and transfers assessment authority to the state public charter school commission.

• Effective date is July 1, 3000.
