SB 665 Summary

• Requires each Department of Education classroom to be equipped with at least one opioid antagonist.

• Mandates the Department of Education provide or coordinate training for employees on opioid-related drug overdose prevention, recognition, response, and opioid antagonist administration, with the board establishing training standards and frequency.

• Provides immunity from criminal prosecution, professional licensing sanctions, and civil liability for department employees who administer opioid antagonists in good faith to students believed to be experiencing opioid-related overdoses.

• Appropriates funding for fiscal years 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 to purchase and place opioid antagonists in Department of Education classrooms and to train teachers and other department employees.

• Takes effect on July 1, 2023.
