SB 746 - Coffee Labeling

• Expands Hawaii coffee labeling and advertising requirements to include ready-to-drink coffee beverages and inner package/wrapping labels that previously were not regulated.

• Requires coffee blend labels to display the geographic origins and percentage by weight of all blended coffees, with the option to list foreign-grown coffee collectively rather than by individual regional origin.

• Prohibits use of "All Hawaiian" labeling or advertising on roasted or instant coffee unless 100 percent of the green coffee beans are grown and processed in Hawaii.

• Requires listing of all coffee origins in descending order by weight on blend labels with type size at least half that of the main identity statement and displayed below it on the front panel.

• Takes effect July 1, 2050.
