Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 137-2 to require government entities to seek reimbursement for search and rescue expenses from rescued persons or responsible parties.

Allows reimbursement only when the need for rescue was caused by the person unreasonably disregarding their safety by: (1) ignoring reasonably posted warnings, (2) leaving a hiking trail to enter closed state, county, or private property with posted closure notice, or (3) entering a hiking trail closed to the public with posted closure notice.

Permits reimbursement claims against the rescued person, their estate, guardians, custodians, or any entity responsible for placing the person in danger.

Takes effect January 1, 2050.
